What We Offer
I will be a spiritual guard, continuously praying physical and spiritual protection over you and your baby. I will protect your birth space, ensuring that you can focus on everything within your body, while I focus on everything outside of your body. From dimming lights, to reminding your birth team to maintain low voices, to advocating for your birth plan, and everything in between. I will always point you back to yourself and God. I will be your cheerleader, offering encouragement that matches your energy.
What can you expect during your birth?
I will ensure you are well nourished and hydrated. I will ensure that you have food and drink readily available and offer it to you frequently. My goal is to get you to drink 16 ounces of fluids every hour, and to pee every hour. This keeps you and baby hydrated, and replenishes amniotic fluid if your waters have released. Emptying your bladder gives baby more space to navigate, and the change of position when physically moving to and from the bathroom, can help baby to wiggle down.
I will encourage you to change positions if there are signs that you are at a physical or emotional roadblock. I believe that birth progresses perfectly when a woman listens to her body and moves in the ways that feel best to her.
Occasionally there are mental or physical barriers that can temporarily prevent a woman from moving in ways that can help baby to move down and out. Those are the times I might ask if you’d like a recommendation for a different position. I will respect your autonomy at all times and obtain your expressed consent prior to touching you or your baby.
I will encourage you to surrender to, and embrace, the birth process. I will provide physical and emotional support to you, your family, and the rest of your support team. I will take photos and/or videos if you’d like, and perform any other tasks previously agreed upon. This is not an all inclusive list and I’m happy to support you in whatever ways I’m able to.
